At the campus we have a production team of about 30 people that comes to Upasana from the neighboring villages. We believe that these villages are very much a part of Auroville and we try to integrate the local population through work and by providing a space to meet, socialize, learn and earn their living. We also work with teams outside the campus that help us in various production activities such as embroidery, finishing of the garments. The outside collaborators also include the groups of women who we have mobilized through our projects like ‘Tsunamika’ and ‘Small Steps’. These enthusiastic women have been a key element in the success and growth of our projects.
