What to expect from Upasana:

At Upasana, we have a number of projects running simultaneously, from design projects to washing plates after meals. You are welcome to join us as a volunteer in a project of your choice and in any capacity that you feel you will be able to contribute. Here our designers are always open to imparting information on our various projects and once you have understood the intricacies of the project of your choice, you will be given a free rein. Our design and research centre is open for exploration of ideas and concepts and you can get instant feedbacks from our professional design team. As a volunteer you can also be exposed to other projects by visiting the project workshops and seminars.

What to expect from Auroville:

Short term and long term guests are welcome to soak up the atmosphere and be a part of this experiment. There are a number of guesthouses in Auroville that are being run by Aurovilians (for the list please refer to www.aurovilleguesthouses.org ). Guests can register with the Financial Service and enjoy the benefit of cashless transactions within Auroville. This is a place full of culture from all over the world and is a wonderful window into the local Tamil culture as well. There are no clubs and no particular nightlife, but plenty of cultural evenings and community dinners are organized to discover each other through food and conversation.

What we expect from you:

Upasana considers itself fully integrated within the context of Auroville. We are all here to be an active part of the collective life and we respect this lifestyle. We expect the volunteers and guests who are visiting us to extend the same respect to Auroville and its way of life. One can enjoy the lifestyle and benefits of Auroville while one is visiting, and guests can contribute through goodwill or work while they are here.
