Meet Uma Prajapati
“I came to Auroville in 1996 for what was supposed to be a two-week design project. With ₹2000 in my pocket and a quiet yearning for something deeper, I never left.”
What began as a journey in fashion became a journey within.
Upasana was not born as a business, but as a practice — a space where design meets purpose, and work becomes yoga.
The name came in silence. Upa means near, asana means to sit.
To sit close — to truth, to life, to transformation.
At Upasana, fashion is not about trends; it is about consciousness. Every thread we weave carries intention. Whether through projects like Tsunamika or Small Steps, or in our everyday work, we ask:
Can beauty serve?
Can business heal?
Can money and meditation coexist?
My work is my sadhana. Through design, I explore change, serve communities, and guide others toward a more conscious way of creating.
Upasana is my offering — a living, breathing practice of presence, responsibility, and grace.
